Dear Owyhee parents, guardians, and students,

Owyhee is proud to announce that we will be participating in the Nampa Personalized Learning program in the 2017-2018 school year. We will be launching a new computer technology program across all grade levels. As a part of this program, each student will be given access to their own iPad. These devices will be used to complete schoolwork, access educational resources, create engaging and personalized learning experiences, and so much more. It is our hope that the integration of technology will help change the way our students learn and how our teachers are able to present lessons.

As a result of the one student, one computer program, we believe that students will:

Improve academic achievement
Use digital tools to communicate and collaborate.
Develop critical thinking skills
Learn to plan and conduct research, manage projects, and solve problems.
Understand and practice legal and ethical behavior related to technology
Build skills that will help them be successful throughout their school career and after.

We are excited about taking the first steps regarding one-to-one computing and want to be sure that we are using this technology in the most effective way. To that end, we will be slowly rolling the program out throughout the next school year. In order to do this responsibly, kindergarten and first grade will be sharing iPads within their classrooms. In grade levels 2-5, each student will have their own iPad that they will solely be responsible for. For now, students will be using this technology only while in school. As the year progresses, we will evaluate the potential opportunities of using this technology outside of school.

This is a wonderful opportunity to provide our students with significant tools for learning, and we look forward to gathering feedback as to the most effective way our students can use this technology. Please be on the lookout for further information regarding how the program will work and what will be required of you. In the meantime, additional information can be found on our school and district websites.

Thanks again for your support of our students and our schools.
